Elementary Guidance
Elementary School Counselors provide weekly classroom lessons on social emotional learning and bullying prevention using Second Step curriculum.
Topics covered include: empathy and being a learner, emotion management, and problem solving. In addition, individual and small group counseling sessions are available on an as-needed basis for students who are having difficulty focusing in class due to life circumstances, such as grief, divorce, interpersonal challenges, inflexible thinking, emotion management, and so on. Finally, the Mid-Prairie Elementary School Counselors facilitate social skill and academic skill groups for students receiving Tier 2 supports through PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports).
