On October 30, 2024, the Mid-Prairie Community School District's Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) convened, bringing together dedicated community members, board members, building staff, and administration. The meeting focused on key developments from the 2022 Revenue Bond and laid out the progress made on the 2024 General Obligations Bond.

A significant aspect of the discussion was the committee’s thorough review of 37 needs identified from meetings held in all school buildings, which included valuable insights from staff and FAC members. Thanks to their diligent work and collaboration, the committee has made substantial headway, addressing 17 of the 37 critical items on the list. These improvements aim to enhance the educational environment within the district  and directly benefit students and the community.

During the meeting, the FAC emphasized its commitment to effectively leveraging funds to maximize benefits for both students and the community. Their strategic planning aims to ensure that every dollar spent contributes to improved opportunities for our students. The committee achieved this in accordance with the budget established by the 2022 Revenue and 2024 General Obligation Bonds.

The following list of 17 items has been identified as complete or partially complete by the FAC through Revenue Bonds, General Obligation Bonds, and summer projects:

● Repaving/reconfiguring parking at West Elementary
● Wrestling/Multipurpose Facility
● New classroom at the high school
● Repaving/reconfiguring parking at East Elementary
● Parking lot improvements at the Middle School
● ADA restroom upgrades district-wide
● Outdoor restroom facilities
● HVAC solutions at West Elementary
● New classrooms at West Elementary
● HVAC humidity solutions at HSAP
● Outdoor Stadium Concessions
● Code-compliant playground upgrades at West Elementary
● Renovate and expand restroom facilities at HSAP
● Ensure adequate lighting levels district-wide
● Replace existing fluorescent lighting with LED district-wide
● Repave/reconfigure parking at HSAP
● Remove existing unused outdoor storage at HSAP.

The next FAC meeting is scheduled for December 4, where discussions will continue about the next steps in enhancing the Mid-Prairie Community School District facilities. Together, we can continue to make Mid-Prairie the place to be!
