Mid-Prairie Speech Breaks Record

18 members of the Mid-Prairie Speech Team competed in 24 events at the Iowa High School Speech Association's State Individual Events Speech Contest at Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, March 9. Of those 24 events, 23 got Division 1 ratings, and 11 earned All-State nominations, and are advancing to the IHSSA Individual Events All-State Festival on Monday, March 25 at the University of Northern Iowa. This breaks Mid-Prairie’s previous record of six total Individual Events nominated, set in 2021 and tied within 2023. For this Individual Events season, Mid-Prairie is tied with two other schools for the most events in the IHSSA Southeast District, and only three schools in the entire state of Iowa have more events nominated.
