Griffin Caskey and Landon Humble, 5th graders from Mid-Prairie Middle School, participated at the Elementary Mathleague National Championship on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Texas A&M University. They were among 391 3rd-6th graders from 16 states, DC, the Philippines, Saipan, and Indonesia at this top level competition. 3,010 students nationwide participated in local contests before 1,973 students competed in State meets to determine qualifiers for Nationals.
Thirty-five students from Mid-Prairie Middle School were among the nearly 160,000 students worldwide to participate in the Math Olympiad Program this year. They participated in a series of five monthly contests of five problems each, from November to March, and weekly practice sessions under the supervision and coaching of Rebecca Yoder. Yoder worked with students to solve unusual and difficult problems and to think creatively.
