Mid-Prairie Libraries 2025-26 Highlights! Mid-Prairie High School New Hawk Block Library Enrichment Program. Mid-Prairie Middle School Library book collection expanding to better represent student needs and interests. West Elementary School 36 students participated in reading Iowa Children's Choice Award books and 16 students voted on the winner. East Elementary School March Reading Madness with 27 guest readers from throughout the district and community. Creating a Culture of Reading Successful Scholastic Book Fairs Elementary Schools Visited by Author and Mid-Prairie Graduate Generous Community Grants for Library Improvement Project Cate Burke District Teacher Librarian
On Wednesday, May 20th, Washington County Riverboat Foundation's Board of Directors voted to fully fund a $101,473 grant to renovate our school libraries!

This project will modernize library spaces at East Elementary, West Elementary, and Middle School through new age-appropriate signage, flexible seating, collaborative work areas, upgraded projection system (Middle School), improved shelving, and updated book collections to better support student learning and instructional use.

In 2017, Mid-Prairie High School received a WCRF grant to transform the library. We are extremely grateful to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation for their continued support of our schools, students, and community! #mphawks

Thank you to Hills Bank for their continued support of Mid-Prairie students through their Classroom Cash program!

This spring, Hills Bank presented the Mid-Prairie Community School District with a generous donation of $4,634.24. Since 2004, Hills Bank has donated an incredible $154,273.76 to Mid-Prairie and more than $1.6 million to participating schools across Eastern Iowa.

A special visit for our East Elementary 1st and 2nd graders!

Students visited West Elementary to help support a smooth transition for the 2026-27 school year. During their visit, students explored their new building, met teachers and staff, and got to check out the new playground — definitely a highlight of the day!
