Because Mid-Prairie's school board and district leadership have been careful stewards of both taxpayer and state revenue streams, the district can address facility needs without raising taxes. The plan will be funded through a general obligation bond that requires voter approval but will not increase property tax rates. How will the bond affect my taxes? Your property tax rate will not go up. We can do this because the Mid-Prairie district leadership and board have strategically been planning for these projects. Because the district paid off prior debt early, used sales tax to pay for work at the middle school and East Elementary, and is aggressively paying down the 2023 bond, we are able to address facility needs at no additional cost to taxpayers. This week we’re celebrating Mrs. Collette McClellen, MPHS Choir Director!

If you’ve ever been around Mrs. McClellen, you know her passion for music is contagious! Her high energy, student-first approach, and genuine belief in the power of music make a lasting impact on the students she works with every day.

One thing she has always said and truly believes is that “Everyone can sing!” She makes sure her students know that music is about so much more than just hitting the right notes. It's about confidence, connection, creativity, teamwork, and discovering talents you may not even know you have!

Throughout her 25+ year career at Mid-Prairie, Mrs. McClellen has built an outstanding choir program and created opportunities for countless students to experience the joy and benefits of being involved in music.

We are so grateful for her dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to putting kids first. We can't wait to see our music program continue to grow, and we're excited about what the future holds!

Thank you Mrs. McClellen for sharing your passion, believing in kids, and reminding us all that EVERYONE CAN SING!

Unified Music started at the high school today! Unified Music is part of our Hawk Links program that pairs up general education students with special education students. Between Unified PE and Unified Music, our students are active, engaged, and included 4 mornings a week! Last week, MPHS statistics students held a game fair to showcase their final projects. Students had to invent a game of chance, calculate the sample space and probability of all the outcomes and decide on payouts for some outcomes to make the game fair - over time people win what they pay to play. Students also had to modify their game to "raise money for charity" - change the game so people playing "pay more than they win" to help the student "fundraise" Baker Bucks for a good cause.

Staff and students had the chance to come check out all the games and vote for which game version they thought they were playing. Students think this is a great final project and chance to showcase what they have learned about probability! #mphawks #GoldenHawks

Our MPHS geometry classes started their 3D unit this week. Students explored 3D shapes and cross sections using Play-Doh. Then they made 3D mobiles by scaling a rectangle to create a rectangular pyramid. Students love the hands on learning in this unit! #mphawks #GoldenHawks

Little Women: The Broadway Musical follows the March sisters: Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy, as they grow up during the Civil War. Determined to become a writer, Jo draws inspiration from their shared adventures and struggles. Through love, loss, and changing dreams, the sisters discover their own paths while holding fast to the family bond that connects them. Everyone can relate to a story about family, finding your voice, and having the courage to follow your dreams! Based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, with the story by Alan Knee, music by Jason Howland and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein.

The Royal Sibling Family of King Eli Tandy, Queen Maëlys Beachy, and Queen Georgia White invite you to these grand evenings of music, revelry, festivities, and feasting. You will be entertained by all the choir members, including: the Court Jester, gypsies, beggars, dancers, knights, servants, recorder players, court singers, and play cast. At the end of each evening the Royal Court will present their concert.

This week, we are excited to give an MPHS Staff Shout Out to Mr. David Kunz, our MPHS Band Director!

Mr. Kunz is often the first person to arrive at school each day and one of the last to leave. He dedicates countless hours to helping our students grow, improve, and find success in Marching Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band. His passion for music and commitment to our students are evident in everything he does!

Most recently, the MPHS Marching Band earned yet another Division I rating at the State Marching Band Competition! This outstanding accomplishment reflects the hard work of our students and the dedication, leadership, and passion Mr. Kunz brings to the program every day.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Mr. Kunz as part of the MPHS family! Thank you, Mr. Kunz, for all you do for our students and for making music such a meaningful part of their high school experience. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for our talented students and band program!
