On August 13, during a special meeting, the Mid-Prairie School Board unanimously approved a resolution to call an election for November 3, 2026. On the ballot is a question that would allow the district to issue bonds to pay for the next phase of facility work.

The proposed plan includes fine arts and special education classrooms, a new events entrance, and a 500-seat auditorium. All of these projects were identified as priorities by the community during planning that began in 2023.

The special meeting was called after the board received a petition with 881 signatures from eligible electors in the district. This surpassed the required number of signatures needed to put the question on the ballot.

Watch for more information in the coming weeks as we share additional details about the proposed improvements and what they could mean for Mid-Prairie students, staff, and families.

“Mid-Prairie Facility Improvements: What’s Next? As the district wraps up construction at West Elementary School and begins its first school year with the new Activities Facility, Mid-Prairie is ready to complete the next step in the facility improvement plan recommended by a community-led facility group. A vote on November 3 will allow the district to add fine arts and special education classrooms, create an events entrance, and add a 500-seat auditorium without raising the property tax levy. Vote November 3, 2026.”

We would like to introduce Jodi Meader and Beryl Marner, who will be sharing the Media Secretary position at our MP-HSAP. Check out a little bit about Jodi and Beryl below, and leave a comment to help us welcome them! #mphawks #GoldenHawks

Jodi - My husband, Ryan, and I have seven kids—five by birth and two who married into the chaos! Three are MP graduates, and two are currently at the high school. We’re also the proud grandparents of two beautiful granddaughters, who have us completely wrapped around their little fingers. When I’m not cheering from the sidelines at one of my kiddos’ activities, you’ll probably find me with a good book or on the floor playing with my grands. Life is busy, loud, and a whole lot of fun—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Beryl - I’m a proud Mid-Prairie alum, Class of ’97! I’m the mom of three kids who have graduated from Mid-Prairie, with a fourth grader currently at West. I’m especially blessed to be called grandma by two sweet boys! Outside of work, I love spending time with my family. I have a definite weakness for coffee shops and bookstores! You can often find me biking the KeWash Trail with my youngest son and husband. In my quiet time, I love to read or listen to audiobooks. I’m excited for this new chapter and so grateful for the opportunity to be working in the Library at MP-HSAP. I’m looking forward to being part of the Mid-Prairie community in a new way!

Aubrey earned her Secondary English 5-12 degree, SPED Strat I endorsement, and master’s degree in Special Education from Buena Vista University. Outside of school, Aubrey wears a few different hats. She’s a fantasy author (The Last Light Keeper series), a traveler, and a gaming enthusiast. She and her husband just celebrated their first wedding anniversary in June and love hitting the road whenever they can. At home, they share their space with a fish named Toothless and two chaos-causing kittens, Nyx and Artemis. In her quiet time, Aubrey is usually either lost in a book, working on her next novel, or playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox. Leave a comment to help us welcome Aubrey! #mphawks #GoldenHawks

Mid-Prairie Transportation flyer reminding parents to check the MyRide K-12 app daily for current school bus information. The top of the flyer reads, “Parents! Please check the app daily!” It features an illustration of a yellow school bus and a message that says, “Stay informed. Stay prepared.” The flyer explains that bus times may continue to change because student registration and bus routes are being adjusted. It directs families to check the MyRide K-12 app daily for the most up-to-date bus information. The app provides bus times, updates, and alerts. The flyer’s transportation guideline is: Students should be ready and waiting 5 minutes before their scheduled bus time and allow up to 5 minutes after the scheduled time for the bus to arrive. For example, if a student’s scheduled bus time is 7:15 a.m., the student should be ready by 7:10 a.m. and should allow until 7:20 a.m. for the bus to arrive. Routes, traffic, student loading, and other circumstances can affect timing. A “Before School Each Day” reminder lists four actions: Check the MyRide K-12 app. Review the child’s current bus time. Have the child ready a few minutes early. Make sure notifications are turned on. The flyer also asks families to notify the Transportation Office if their child will not be riding the bus in the morning or afternoon so the driver can be informed. For transportation questions or to report that a child will not be riding, call 319-646-6881. The flyer closes with the Mid-Prairie Transportation message: “Hawk Pride on the Ride!”
