Mid-Prairie High School musician, Thomas Lueck, will be traveling to Des Moines next week to play in Class 3A All-State Jazz Band.

He will rehearse at Johnston High School on Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14, then he will perform in the Class 3A All-State Jazz Band at the downtown Des Moines Marriott Hotel at 3:00 pm on May 14.

This concert plays to a packed house of parents, band directors from all over the state, and college jazz band directors scouting for new talent. The Class 3A jazz band is directed by Ben Markley, who teaches jazz piano at the University of Wyoming and leads his own big band. Good luck, Thomas! #mphawks

Wendell was nominated by Mr. Troyer, "At the Build My Future Career Fair in Cedar Rapids, they always have a display inside a semi-trailer that includes a simulator to help recruit drivers. The guys in charge were sitting on the steps, turning kids away because their simulator wasn't working. Wendell to the rescue! He got it up and running, and everyone got to experience the driving simulator." Great work, Wendell! #mphawks

Mid-Prairie has installed new shot put and discus throwing rings, but they aren't marked! Geometry students have been tasked with finding the center of these rings and other markings using theorems and ideas they have learned about circles this half. Last week, our kids tested some of their ideas in the parking lot, before officially marking the rings. #mphawks
