Lincoln Miller (5th grade), Griffin Caskey (5th grade), Landon Humble (5th grade) and Jacob Flynn (6th grade) participated in the Great Plains Math League State of Iowa Elementary Math Competition held in Iowa City on Saturday, May 4. The event consisted of Number Sense, Sprint, Target, and Team rounds. Over 70 3rd-6th grade students from around the state competed. Placing for Mid-Prairie in the 5th grade Small School Division was Lincoln Miller (3rd place number sense round and 2nd place sprint round), Griffin Caskey (2nd place target round and 1st place number sense round), and Landon Humble (2nd place number sense round, 1st place sprint round, and 1st place target round). The 4 team members' combined scores earned Mid-Prairie Middle School the 1st place School Sweepstakes Trophy for their Division. Griffin Caskey and Landon Humble also qualified for the Mathleague Nationals level, which will be hosted at Texas A&M in June.
