MP West Elementary 4th graders went on a cultural field trip to UNI recently. First they attended a "Day of the Dead" musical at Bluedorn Gallagher theater, to explore this upcoming Mexican celebration through music, dance and poetry in Spanish. Following the production, they had lunch in the dome. Finally they strode through the campus on the way to the library where students had access to books, saw artwork and/ or were involved in a ceramic tile making project or button making. Some attended the Arctic display where they discovered a mammoth tusk that was found in Iowa as well as facts about Iowa's arctic past. During the bus ride, students watched the "Book of Life" to further the Day of the Dead exploration. All students enjoyed their day!
