Dear Parents,
If you have a child turning 5 years old on or before September 15, 2020, you are invited
to attend a Kindergarten Registration Night on Tuesday, February 25 from 6:00-6:45 at
the Mid-Prairie Middle School Commons in Kalona.
Please attend this meeting to get your child registered for the 2020-21 school
year. In addition to registering your child for Kindergarten, you will receive
transportation information, immunization requirements, building preference information,
waiver process, and paperwork from our secretaries. Please note that your child
does NOT need to be present at this meeting since it is an information meeting
for parents only.
The following items are required to bring to the Kindergarten Registration meeting: one
copy of your child’s birth certificate and one copy of your child’s updated immunizations
from your child’s primary doctor. It is okay to provide immunization records to the
school nurse during Back to School night if you have an upcoming well-check prior to
school starting.
You may know we have Kindergarten in two locations: East Elementary in Kalona and
West Elementary in Wellman. Once we have all Kindergarten students registered, we
will create boundaries to determine where your kindergartener will attend school. When
you receive your child’s placement, you will have the option to fill out a waiver for a
request to go to the alternative elementary school. For example, if your child is placed
at East Elementary and you want him/her to attend West Elementary for specific and
valid reasons, you would fill out a Boundary Waiver. We will give more information
during the meeting.
