On Wednesday, February 5th Joe Hall (8th grade, tuba) and Jacob Flynn (7th grade, alto saxophone) participated in the South East Iowa Bandmasters Association (SEIBA) Honor Band at Iowa City West High School. 388 students from all over South East Iowa auditioned for this band back in January. It took several months of practice to prepare for their audition.
Students were instructed by retired band director and arts advocate Jane Triplett and composer/conductor Aaron Perrine. SEIBA commissioned a composition from Mr. Perrine specifically for this honor band, so Joe and Jacob premiered the piece Steeple with Mr. Perrine conducting.
