Due to COVID-19, the State IE Speech contest scheduled for Saturday March 14 in Grinnell was canceled. As of July 1, the Iowa High School Speech Association has released guidance and given permission for the qualifying students across the state of Iowa to compete in mini-contests at their own school. Mid-Prairie Speech will hold their State Individual Events Mini Contest on Friday, July 17. This event will be closed to the public due to an abundance of caution with COVID-19 still being present in the community. This contest will happen within the parameters of social distancing, masks or face coverings, thorough and frequent sanitization, and health screening. These students will still have the opportunity to earn All-State nominations from the three judges that will be present, which will be announced by the IHSSA at the beginning of the upcoming school year.
