The ALC students celebrated Earth Day 2026 by giving back to the community and helping a longtime Mid-Prairie bus driver, Cyndi Michel, affectionately known as “Grandma.” Six students worked together to clear flower beds, trim bushes, rake leaves, and lay fresh mulch around the property. They also helped fix lawn decorations, start a motor-powered leaf blower, and take care of any other tasks that needed attention.
The class quickly realized that one visit wouldn’t be enough. With such a large property, “Grandma” always has projects that could use extra hands, and the students are already planning a return trip. Along the way, a well-stocked pond on the property also caught the students’ attention, adding to the memorable experience of a day spent helping others and enjoying the outdoors.
