Two groups from the Mid-Prairie Large Group Speech Team earned All-State recognition, as announced by the Iowa High School Speech Association on Wednesday, Feb. 17 including a 7th All-State nomination for senior Kyra Helmuth, which breaks the Mid-Prairie record of six held by Chris Hiller.
The State Large Group Contest was held at Mid-Prairie High School on Saturday, Feb. 6. Three IHSSA certified judges were present to critique and rate each performance. Two of the three judges need to nominate a group in order for them to be considered for All-State. Groups nominated for All-State are considered outstanding.
The All-State groups include: Group Improv, Transcondimentals: Terra Richardson, Magnolia Graber, Emily Marner and Ensemble Acting, Art of Manipulation by Kyra Helmuth: Magnolia Graber, Alexander Burnham, Kyra Helmuth, Christopher Burnham
Due to Covid-19, there will not be an All-State Festival this year. Speech Coaches at MPHS are Christine Meader and Lisa Helmuth.
