Mr. Foster oversees sixth grade students' discussions.

Sixth grade students at Mid-Prairie Middle school got to put their critical thinking skills to the test as Jeff Foster, MPMS Health teacher, and Nicholas O'Brien, K-12 English Language Learner teacher, taught a joint lesson on conflict resolution and student activism.  Couching the conversation in the Birmingham Children's Crusade of 1963, students drew connections between the marches for Civil Rights and student activism that occurred after the Parkland, Fla. school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High.  Students did a jigsaw activity where they read and discussed ideas and examples written by other students after the shooting and then contributed their own ideas.  Finally, Mr. Foster and Mr. O'Brien went over the ways Mid-Prairie Community Schools work to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students at the middle school.
