This past Saturday, Feb. 23, 17 MPHS Students competed in 25 events at the IHSSA District Individual Events Contest at Grinnell High School. Of those 25 events, 22 received Division 1 ratings, and will be advancing to IHSSA State Individual Events Contest on Saturday, March 9 at North Scott High School. Events receiving a Division 1 rating at State Contest are eligible for All-State recognition. 

Students who received a Division 1 rating in their respective events are: Olivia Caskey, in Solo Acting and Storytelling; Gavin Frascht in Spontaneous Speaking and Radio News Broadcasting; Sydnee Griffin in After Dinner Speaking; Dominic Helmuth in Reviewing; Kyra Helmuth in Solo Acting and Solo Musical Theatre; Altynai Kabylbekova in Interpretive Reading Poetry; Lola Knight in Solo Acting and Expository Address; Emily Marner in Interpretive Reading Prose and Reviewing; Sierra Mathews in Spontaneous Speaking and Solo Improvisation; Feza Matiyabo in Solo Musical Theatre; Annessa Meader in Interpretive Reading Prose; Elizabeth Meader in Expository Address; Evan Meader in Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Improv; Tristan Novy in Radio News Broadcasting; and Liza Siti in Storytelling. Receiving a Division 2 rating were Tristan Novy in After Dinner Speaking; Terra Richardson in Solo Improv, and Eli Van Roekel in Storytelling.
