Conferences update from MPHS: Dear Parents and Families, It is time for 9 -12th grade families to sign up for a spring Parent/Teacher conference with your child's seminar teacher. This year conferences will be Tuesday, March 26th and Thursday, March 28th. Our goal for these conferences is to have parents, students, and seminar advisors on the same page with the student's potential schedule for next year by looking at what they requested. We want students to attend the conference, too, so please schedule a time that works around their schedules. Note: A couple teachers have conflicts and will reach out to their seminar students/parents if that is the case. Schedules for teachers will be posted outside their door in case there is another teacher you would like to meet with other than your students seminar teacher. You can look and see when other teachers will be available to chat. Please sign up by Friday, March 22nd. To sign up, please sign into your parent PowerSchool account and the link can be found on the left hand side. After clicking on "Parent Teacher Conferences" there will be an option with two days listed. You can sign up by entering your email. If you have other students you want to schedule a conference for, you can switch to their account by clicking on their name at the upper left hand corner. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks! 319-646-6091

Today, Miss Stacia’s alternative kindergarten class celebrated Rare Disease Day, a global initiative to raise awareness and generate support for everyone who is on a rare medical journey. It takes place on the last day of February, the rarest day of the year. The class learned about what makes us similar and unique to others, and celebrated a friend with his favorite snack and a story. #mphawks

MPHS Choirs to Present Annual Pops & Pie Concert On Thursday, February 29th, the Mid-Prairie High School Choral department will be presenting its annual Pops & Pie Concert. This concert is split into two portions. At 6:15pm, soloists and small groups will present a myriad of songs. Expect to hear Frank Sinatra’s “Moonlight Serenade,” “Empty Chairs and Empty Tables” from Les Miserables, a bit of “Bye, Bye, Bye” from NSYNC, a cowboy ballad in “Billy the Kid,” a little steampunk with “The Death of the Cog,” “Never Getting Rid of Me,” from the musical Waitress, “Arabian Nights” from Aladdin, a family band affair with “Route 66,” a classic of “The Rainbow Connection,” and so, so much more! At 8:00pm, Lyrica and Mixed Choir will present their larger choral works. Lyrica will sing “We Can Dream” by PinkZebra, “El Vito” arranged by Emily Crocker, and “Safe & Sound” from The Hunger Games. Mixed Choir will present “Mountain Dance” by Roger Emerson, “Pompeii” arranged by Jacob Narverud, and “Does the World Say” by Kyle Pederson. As the title of the concert suggests, we will have Pop music, plus PIE to eat! We would love to see you supporting these amazing students Thursday, February 29th, starting at 6:15pm in the HS Cafeteria. Admission is $2 for adults and free for all students. We also have a tip jar to help support our auditorium fund! #mphawks

Yesterday MPHS Algebra 1 students experimented with Magic Squares! After they played with some squares, they noticed and wondered about the patterns in each square. They learned the magic is using arithmetic sequences to generate the numbers that fill the boxes to get the same sum in each column, row, and diagonal! They had a great time using what they have learned about sequences in Algebra class to figure out the magic behind the square! #mphawks

Congratulations to MPHS Student of the Week, Ella Titus! Ella was nominated by Mrs. Seward, "She works as the TA in the Culinary Foundations class and then is a student in Culinary II. Last week the Culinary II class ran late and left the lab in a less than pristine state. She came in on Friday and totally cleaned the lab so it would be ready for an event being hosted there over the weekend. This was over and above what was expected, but it was SO appreciated! Ella is a wonderful support to the Culinary Foundations students and a strong leader in the Culinary II class." Great work, Ella! #mphawks
