The MPHS Jazz Band will be playing at the Corridor Jazz Project Concert at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 7, at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Cedar Rapids. This is a big honor for the MPHS Jazz Band. Eight Mid-Prairie Large Group Speech Groups competed Saturday, February 4 at Cedar Rapids Washington High School for the Iowa High School Speech Association's State Large Group Speech Contest. All 8 groups earned division 1 ratings. In addition, on Monday, February 6, four events were honored by being nominated to the IHSSA All-State Festival, to be held at the Iowa State Center in Ames, Iowa on Saturday, February 18. Only the top 5% of student performers in the IHSSA achieve All-State nominations. Earning Division 1 Ratings at State Large Group Speech Contest: Musical Theatre - Spamalot - Haydon Bailey, Jack Greiner, Avery Slaubaugh. This group was nominated as Performers at IHSSA All-State. Group Improvisation - Tall and Small - Jillian Clark and Kenadi Fay. This group was nominated as Performers at IHSSA All-State. Ensemble Acting - Weekend at Bundy's - Haydon Bailey, Jacob Carrillo, Caroline Schrader, Avery Slaubaugh. This group was nominated as Non-Performers to IHSSA All-State.
