FCCLA is sponsoring Homecoming T-Shirts again this year in class distinction colors along with a color for everyone who is not a high school student. With homecoming scheduled for September 12, we need to order the shirts quickly to get them in time.

Next, we would like to introduce our new HSAP Resource Library Media Secretary at the Home School Education Center, Elizabeth Schrock. Elizabeth enjoys learning about Indian culture, entrepreneurship, wellness, and community building and engagement strategies. She also enjoys crocheting in her free time. #mphawks

We would like to introduce our new 6th-8th grade band teacher and 7th grade volleyball coach, Megan Uden. Megan earned her BA in Music Education and BM in Clarinet Performance from the University of Iowa. She’s originally from Coralville and was involved in the Hawkeye Marching Band and Iowa Pep Band for five years. In her free time, Megan enjoys playing sand volleyball and tennis, going line dancing, hiking, and going to Hawkeye football and basketball games. She’s excited to build relationships with students and families while sharing her passion for teaching music! #mphawks

We have some incredibly exciting news to share from the Iowa Family and Consumer Sciences Educators (IFCSE) conference this past June. We are thrilled and honored to announce that two of our outstanding leaders have been recognized with top state-level awards.

Please join us in congratulating Glenda Seward, our long-time dedicated Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, who was named the 2024-2025 Educator of the Year. This award recognizes her exceptional commitment and innovative approach to teaching students crucial life skills. Her passion and hard work have made a tremendous impact on our students and school community.

Additionally, we are proud to announce that our MPHS Principal, Chuck Banks, received the 2024-2025 Administrator of the Year award. This honor highlights his unwavering support for our FCS program and his dedication to creating an environment where both students and teachers can thrive. His leadership and support have been a key factor in the success of the FCS department.

Both of these awards are a testament to the hard work and excellence we strive for every day. Their recognition by their peers across the state is a source of great pride for all of us. The support of the school board and Mid-Prairie District leadership for these individuals and our Family and Consumer Sciences program is not only essential but also deeply appreciated and a key factor in our success!

We would like to introduce our Special Education Teacher joining MP-East Elementary, Tasha Mumme. Tasha attended William Penn University and Morningside University. She enjoys reading and hanging out with her family. She and her son have a blast going to the movies in the summer and swimming together. She has also recently learned new skills in website building and loves learning more about the different aspects of that project. #mphawks

Next, we would like to introduce one of our new 4th-grade teachers joining MP-West Elementary, Emma Haynes. Emma earned her degree at Iowa State University in May and was married to her husband, Tyler, in July. She loves spending time with her friends and family, and, of course, going on walks with her golden doodle, Millie Mae. She’s very excited to begin her teaching career at Mid-Prairie and to welcome students into her classroom soon! #mphawks

Our next introduction is our new Mid-Prairie Alternative Learning Center teacher and head Girls Basketball coach, Jenny Hobbs. Jenny earned her degree at Iowa State University and enjoys watching the Olympics and the Cyclones. She loves to garden and tend to her array of animals at home. #mphawks

We would like to introduce our new School Nurse at MP-West Elementary and MP High School, Heather Plank. Heather is a Mid-Prairie graduate from the class of 2010, and she earned her BSN from Mount Mercy University in 2016. She loves spending time outside in her flower and vegetable gardens, thrifting for all the good deals, and spending time with her family and friends. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Jude, and they have two children, Jayleigh and Huxlee. They also have two miniature Australian Shepherds, Addy and Lambeau. She’s excited to join the Mid-Prairie district as a staff member! #mphawks

Next, we would like to introduce another one of our new 2nd-grade teachers joining MP-East Elementary, Emma Johnson. Emma graduated from Buena Vista University in May of 2024, majoring in Elementary Education and earning an endorsement in Reading K-8. Ever since she was a little girl, she always had a passion for teaching and working with others. Emma loves to travel and has been to eight countries so far. Other than traveling, you can find her relaxing with a good book, drinking Starbucks coffee, spending time with family, or shopping. #mphawks
