As the district wraps up construction at West Elementary SChool and begins our first school year with the new activities facility, we are ready to complete the next step in the facility improvement plan recommended by a community-led facility group. A community based facility advisory committee composed of 45 individuals representing a broad cross-section of the Mid-Prairei community, including parents, district staff, and a mix of public and private sector professionals has been meeting since 2023. Because Mid-Prairie's school board and district leadership have been careful stewards of both taxpayer and state revenue streams, the district can address facility needs without raising taxes. The plan will be funded through a general obligation bond that requires voter approval but will not increase property tax rates. How will the bond affect my taxes? Your property tax rate will not go up. We can do this because the Mid-Prairie district leadership and board have strategically been planning for these projects. Because the district paid off prior debt early, used sales tax to pay for work at the middle school and East Elementary, and is aggressively paying down the 2023 bond, we are able to address facility needs at no additional cost to taxpayers. This week we’re celebrating Mrs. Collette McClellen, MPHS Choir Director!

If you’ve ever been around Mrs. McClellen, you know her passion for music is contagious! Her high energy, student-first approach, and genuine belief in the power of music make a lasting impact on the students she works with every day.

One thing she has always said and truly believes is that “Everyone can sing!” She makes sure her students know that music is about so much more than just hitting the right notes. It's about confidence, connection, creativity, teamwork, and discovering talents you may not even know you have!

Throughout her 25+ year career at Mid-Prairie, Mrs. McClellen has built an outstanding choir program and created opportunities for countless students to experience the joy and benefits of being involved in music.

We are so grateful for her dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to putting kids first. We can't wait to see our music program continue to grow, and we're excited about what the future holds!

Thank you Mrs. McClellen for sharing your passion, believing in kids, and reminding us all that EVERYONE CAN SING!
