Congratulations to MPHS Student of the Week, Quincy Duvall! Quincy was nominated by Mr Banks, "I would like to nominate Quincy Duvall for our first MPHS Student of the Week for the 2026–27 school year! I recently observed Quincy demonstrating an outstanding level of care and compassion toward a student who was eating in the lunchroom for the first time. Quincy helped her navigate the lunch line, enter her lunch number, and even sat with her while they ate to make sure she felt comfortable and included. Thanks Quincy, for your leadership, compassion, and willingness to help your classmates. Students like you are what make MPHS such a special place for ALL students. We are proud that you know what it truly means to be a Golden Hawk!" Great work, Quincy! #mphawks #GoldenHawks

The community-based Facility Advisory Committee is composed of 45 individuals representing a broad cross-section of the Mid-Prairie community, including parents, district staff, and a mix of public and private sector professionals working in professions such as construction and construction administration, healthcare, agriculture, telecommunications, business, banking, public administration, and elected offices. This broad representation was purposeful to ensure that recommendations reflect both the instructional needs within the buildings and the community’s expectations around financial stewardship.

The plan for additions and renovations at the high school includes a new auditorium and new band and choir classrooms. A new event foyer will connect the auditorium to the current gymnasium and will include new ADA-compliant restrooms as well as new event/activities concessions. Renovating the current band and choir classrooms will allow special education to move to the first level. The current special education classrooms will then be converted to create much-needed space for general education use and additional ADA-compliant restrooms for the building.
The projects will require a bond vote, but will not increase the district’s property tax levy rate.

Watch for more information in the coming weeks as we share additional details about the proposed improvements and what they could mean for Mid-Prairie students, staff, and families.

On August 13, during a special meeting, the Mid-Prairie School Board unanimously approved a resolution to call an election for November 3, 2026. On the ballot is a question that would allow the district to issue bonds to pay for the next phase of facility work.

The proposed plan includes fine arts and special education classrooms, a new events entrance, and a 500-seat auditorium. All of these projects were identified as priorities by the community during planning that began in 2023.

The special meeting was called after the board received a petition with 881 signatures from eligible electors in the district. This surpassed the required number of signatures needed to put the question on the ballot.

Watch for more information in the coming weeks as we share additional details about the proposed improvements and what they could mean for Mid-Prairie students, staff, and families.

“Mid-Prairie Facility Improvements: What’s Next? As the district wraps up construction at West Elementary School and begins its first school year with the new Activities Facility, Mid-Prairie is ready to complete the next step in the facility improvement plan recommended by a community-led facility group. A vote on November 3 will allow the district to add fine arts and special education classrooms, create an events entrance, and add a 500-seat auditorium without raising the property tax levy. Vote November 3, 2026.”

We would like to introduce Jodi Meader and Beryl Marner, who will be sharing the Media Secretary position at our MP-HSAP. Check out a little bit about Jodi and Beryl below, and leave a comment to help us welcome them! #mphawks #GoldenHawks

Jodi - My husband, Ryan, and I have seven kids—five by birth and two who married into the chaos! Three are MP graduates, and two are currently at the high school. We’re also the proud grandparents of two beautiful granddaughters, who have us completely wrapped around their little fingers. When I’m not cheering from the sidelines at one of my kiddos’ activities, you’ll probably find me with a good book or on the floor playing with my grands. Life is busy, loud, and a whole lot of fun—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Beryl - I’m a proud Mid-Prairie alum, Class of ’97! I’m the mom of three kids who have graduated from Mid-Prairie, with a fourth grader currently at West. I’m especially blessed to be called grandma by two sweet boys! Outside of work, I love spending time with my family. I have a definite weakness for coffee shops and bookstores! You can often find me biking the KeWash Trail with my youngest son and husband. In my quiet time, I love to read or listen to audiobooks. I’m excited for this new chapter and so grateful for the opportunity to be working in the Library at MP-HSAP. I’m looking forward to being part of the Mid-Prairie community in a new way!

We would like to introduce our new special education teacher joining MPMS and MPHS, Aubrey DePew. Aubrey earned her Secondary English 5-12 degree, SPED Strat I endorsement, and master’s degree in Special Education from Buena Vista University. Outside of school, Aubrey wears a few different hats. She’s a fantasy author (The Last Light Keeper series), a traveler, and a gaming enthusiast. She and her husband just celebrated their first wedding anniversary in June and love hitting the road whenever they can. At home, they share their space with a fish named Toothless and two chaos-causing kittens, Nyx and Artemis. In her quiet time, Aubrey is usually either lost in a book, working on her next novel, or playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox. Leave a comment to help us welcome Aubrey! #mphawks #GoldenHawks
