Mid-Prairie Girls Golf won it's home invitational on Thursday!
From Head Coach Tracy McArtor - "Great outing by the Golden Hawk Girls at our home Girls Hawk Invite. The kids outlasted runner-up Williamsburg by a single shot, shooting a team score of 361. That score may be a team record along with the 9 hole front side score of 176. I'll have to check my archives. Plenty new personal bests by the kids as well. Senior Delani Blum's 100, Junior Morgyn Bender's 85 and Freshman Macie Ihrig's 9 hole and 18 hole scores of 44 and 92. Olivia Swartzendruber shot a team best 84.
Conditions got a little tougher as the day went on with the winds really kicking up, but the girls kept their focus and did an amazing job. This was also possibly the first time that the kids have won our home invite in back to back years and also both the Boys and Girls teams winning the same year. Lots to celebrate and then back to work to get even better. Awesome job by the kids!" #mphawks

Four Mid-Prairie High School jazz musicians were guest DJs at the Jazz 88.3 KCCK radio station on Wednesday, April 22. Senior, Brock Lowenberg, juniors, Thomas Lueck and Millana Kazakov, and sophomore, Rachel Lamb, were live on the radio at 4:00 pm playing their favorite jazz recordings and talking about their lives as musicians and students. They did an incredible job representing the band program and their school! #mphawks

Mid-Prairie Girls Golf Coach Tracy McArtor's report on Varsity meet at Williamsburg and JV meet at West Liberty - "Great job by both squads today! Beautiful day to be on the golf course, albeit a little on the soggy side. Varsity team went up against a combination of 2A and 3A teams with some pretty good resume's and did an awesome job. Junior Olivia Swartzendruber had a great round of 80, only to be bested by a couple of the top players in 3A that posted rounds of 71 and 74. Liv was just steady all day, scrambling when she needed to and minimizing and big number. The girls team score of 387 is the same team score they posted last year in the same meet. Morgyn, Paiton and Delani rounded out the team scoring. This was the first 18 hole event for both freshman Noelle Nelson and Maci Ihrig and both did a great job with their first go around.
The Golden Hawk JV girls were able to travel to West Liberty for a 6 team JV invite and placed 2nd, only 10 shots behind the winning team from Durant. Senior Laurin Fay placed 5th individually with a nice round of 57. Nice to be able to get all the kids out and to different venues for some great competition. I'm starting to see a lot more consistency with what the kids are shooting for scores and being quite a bit more comfortable on the course. It's great seeing them get better and they have all been working extremely hard to improve their game. "

Yesterday in stats class, students did an experiment to find a confidence interval for the true proportion of Hershey's kisses that land flat when tossed in the air. This is always a favorite lab because we get to eat the data when we are done with the experiment!
