Mrs. Baker’s statistics class had two guest speakers this week. On Monday we zoomed with Sara Willette, a data analyst, who talked about working with large datasets, deciding how to deal with outliers, and data visualization methods. She also shared some interesting software she uses to analyze and visualize data. Tuesday, Angie Lamb from the University of Iowa Student services came in to talk to our class about data trends from the University of Iowa. We looked at trends and survey results from MP grads at Iowa the last 5 years. We have enjoyed seeing many real world applications of statistics and learning how different careers depend on statistics!

This is an important informational meeting for parents/students going into 9th-10th-11th-12th grades in fall of 2023 – we will be explaining what College Credit in High School (CCHS) is, its benefits and expectations, the application process, and then providing tours and Q&A with our student ambassadors and some instructors. The Mid-Prairie Community School District is looking for a bus driver to drive a route. The hours would be a total of four each day. You would be paid for two hours for the morning route and two hours for the afternoon route. The daily rate is $96.68. IPERS eligible Please apply on teachiowa.gov. Mid-Prairie West Elementary is searching for a Lead Custodian position from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. You would be responsible for the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the building. It is the responsibility of the Lead Custodian to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety. The MP Central Office staff was given a great reminder to "Be Au Sm". Jeff Swartzentruber, Business Manager, was able to hear speaker Joshua Peach at an IASBO Conference. Joshua is the founder of "Be Au Sm", and shared about the elements Beryllium (Be), Gold (Au) and Samarium (Sm). These elements each possess a positive power to make a difference in the environments in which they are used. What a positive reminder Jeff brought back to our staff to "Be Au Sm" as we impact the lives around us daily. #mphawks

MP elementary schools had a surprise visitor today! Mr. Grinch came to visit the classrooms and even helped deliver milk and cookies to the students. His heart grew at least 3 sizes today! #mphawks
