This spring, just over 20 high school students have been meeting 1-2 times a week to play chess! During the week of April 25th, seventeen students battled it out over 3 days to narrow it down to the top five students. On Monday, May 2nd, Owen Trimpe, Hugo Banuelos, John Stultz, Jacob Carrillo, and Irman Ganibegovic competed for the top two positions. After their first game ended in a stalemate, Jacob and John went head to head again on Tuesday. Jacob ended up first in our tournament and will play Mr. Schneider on the 19th! Way to finish strong! #mphawks

Congratulations again to the girls track and field team on having a fine outing in Monticello at the River Valley Conference track and field meet. The Lady Hawks are conference champions. Congratulations to Mid Prairie's Kirkwood Patient Care Academy students: Ethan Kos, Madeline Schrader, Marissa Cline, Elizabeth James, and Mya Miller! They passed the computer and skills portions of the State of Iowa Nurse Aide Test on May 5th. They are now on the state's Direct Care Worker Registry of Certified Nursing Assistants! The class had a 100% pass rate on their first attempt, which speaks volumes for the level of work and commitment this group of students has put into this achievement! #mphawks #seethestars #seeforyourself
