Next we would like to introduce Mid-Prairie East Elementary’s new school nurse, Carmen Fernau. Carmen graduated from Walden University in 2015. She also teaches a fitness class at the Wellman YMCA called Pound. In their free time, Carmen and her family enjoy spending time together at University of Iowa sporting events. Lisa graduated from the University of Northern Iowa for both her undergraduate degree and her masters degree. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, being in nature, going for walks, reading, riding horses and watching TV.

Elena Beachy, K-4 Spanish teacher, and Karalee Smith, ELL teacher, coordinated a Spanish Literacy Day at the Kalona Public Library on Saturday. High school students, Lilou Beachy and Martha Baltazar Juan also helped out.
