Congratulations to six Mid-Prairie Middle School students for qualifying for the Iowa State Mathleague.org Competition. Fifth graders Jack Sorrell and Ethan Schlabaugh and sixth graders Griffin Caskey, Landon Humble, Rowan Miller, and Ethan Slay earned an invite based on their performance at qualifying events earlier in the year. The competition will be held online from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 29th. The competition will consist of four test rounds--number sense, sprint, target, and team--and will culminate with the top-scoring contestants in a countdown round. High scoring participants at the State level will be invited to compete at the National Competition. The National Competition will either be held virtually this spring or in-person this fall, depending on coronavirus pandemic developments. This is Mid-Prairie Middle School's second year in a row having multiple students qualify for the State level competition.

On May 2nd, the communities of Riverside, Wellman, and Kalona will again be hosting a "Pop Up Food Pantry" from 9:00-11:00 AM. We are making one change to the program and will be offering a drive-up service not only in Kalona but in Riverside and Wellman at the addresses below. Kalona - 711 A Avenue (City Shop) Wellman - 316 8th Avenue (City Hall) Riverside - Hall Park on South Ella If you are experiencing food insecurity and need assistance, please stop by the location that is most convenient. To keep social distancing, we would ask that you pull up to the location and stay in your vehicle and we will load the food box for you. Please call your City Hall or Ryan at 319-936-9354 if you need to schedule an alternate pick up time or delivery.
