Middle school teachers were on the lookout for Random Acts of Kindness. If kindness was witnessed, the student name was put into a hat and winners were drawn at random to throw pies at Mr. Lambert and Mr. Pennington. Pie-throwing winners were Cameron Pickard and Libby Peiffer. Other winners received lunch privileges of dismissing their table first on their chosen day. They were Quinn Callahan, Caleb Vercande, Hayden Bailey & Aubrey Campbell.

High school speech students visited MP West to demonstrate and mentor 4th graders on Readers Theater. Fourth graders have been participating in Readers Theater scripts which emphasize literacy skills such as fluency, rate, intonation and expression. #mphawks

Congratulations to the MPHS Jazz Band that competed at the Jim Coffin Jazz Festival last week. They placed 2nd in class 2A and Natali Miller received the outstanding soloist award.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to West Elementary March 5-7. The book fair will be open before school all week and Tuesday and Thursday evening during conferences
Superintendent Mark Schneider was back in the classroom recently as he subbed for associate Sarah Rodgers. In December, Schneider and administrators gifted a personal day to teachers and staff members by volunteering to be their substitute. Names were drawn at random.

The Mid-Prairie FCCLA Chapter is selling fresh, Florida-grown strawberries between now and February 14th for delivery the week of March 4. Flats (8 quarts) sell for $30 and half-flats (4 quarts) sell for $16. Proceeds go toward our chapter service projects and student travel to leadership events.
MP West Kindergarten classes will focus on Caring during the month of February by collecting items for the Wellman Food Pantry. The goal is to collect 300 items. Everyone is encouraged to contribute and help the kindergartners reach their goal!
