Mid-Prairie students and families are invited to an informational meeting on September 30th to learn more about an upcoming travel opportunity to Guatemala and Belize during the summer of 2025. Students will be immersed in the culture of the ancient Mayans and discover the natural wonders that these Central American countries have to offer through nature hikes in the Pacaya volcano area, underground cave kayak exploration, snorkeling in one of the healthiest coral reefs in the world while developing their Spanish language skills. This trip is NOT sponsored by Mid-Prairie but is only open to students- in the entire MP district- who have completed Spanish1 and who will have completed or attempted Spanish 2 by May 2025. Congratulations to Jacob Flynn, as he was named a Commended Student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program! A Letter of Commendation from MPHS and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will be presented by Mr. Banks. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation."

In math, the 6th graders explored surface area by calculating how many sticky notes it would take to cover a filing cabinet, excluding the bottom. Students collaborated well and used a variety of strategies! Great start to surface area :) #mphawks #mathisfun
We had a very successful Mum Fundraiser last week! Thank you to all who came out to support MP-HSAP students! We are definitely within reach of our outdoor picnic shelter goal. We still have a few mums left. If you are interested, feel free to come to the building. It will be self-serve and then you can bring your donation into the office. Miss V's First Grade class loves to play math games! In math, they have been learning games that help them practice counting, adding 1 or 2 to a number, and subtracting 1 or 2 from a number. The best part about math is getting to play games with friends! #mphawks
Miss V's First Grade class has been working on reading to friends during their Daily Five Literacy time. Students get to pick a friend and a book to enjoy together! Shared reading is a great way for students to help each other learn new words and discover new kinds of books.
MP East Elementary students and staff had so much fun celebrating their CyHawk Pride on Friday, September 6 at our CyHawk Game Day Tailgate event! We loved the recess tailgate games, music outside while we had a tailgate lunch and so much more!

The Washington County Youth Service Board is sponsoring a food drive competition between Mid-Prairie CSD and Washington CSD! In hopes of making sure food banks are fully stocked leading up to the holiday season, donation boxes will be located at each of our Mid-Prairie buildings. The more donations brought in, the better chance we have at beating Washington and supporting families in need! Donations will be accepted through November 22nd. #mphawks
