The Mid-Prairie High School Speech team is advancing 16 of their 17 Individual Events to the Iowa High School Speech Association's State IE Speech Contest on Saturday, March 11 at North Scott High School. The team participated in the IHSSA District IE Speech Contest on Saturday, February 25. Earning Division I ratings, and advancing to IE State Contest are:

At the IHSSA State Individual Events Contest, the performers will have the chance to be nominated to perform at the IHSSA All-State Individual Events Festival, which will occur on Monday, March 27 at UNI in Cedar Falls. At least two of three judges in each performer's center must nominate a student for them to qualify for All-State. Participants in the IHSSA All-State Individual Events Festival represent the top 5% of all IE participants across the state of Iowa.

Ten members of the Mid-Prairie Speech Team competed in the River Valley Conference Individual Events Speech Contest at Cascade High School on Monday, February 20. All 15 of their events earned a Division I rating. At RVC Speech Contests, best in center recognition is awarded. Mid-Prairie earned eight best in center awards.
The students and their events are as follows, with best in center recognition listed:

Congratulations to MPHS Student of the Week for February 20-24, Lilian Purkeypile! Days 3 & 4 in sixth grade math: Students role-playing their dining experience. They played the role of a waiter one day and customer the next day. Students calculated their total bill, sales tax, tip, change, and much more while enjoying some snacks! #mphawks
