On Saturday, March 12, the Mid-Prairie Individual Events Speech team competed at Grinnell High School for the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Individual Event State Speech Contest. Of 19 entries, 16 received Division 1 ratings, and six of those are nominated to perform at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Individual Events All-State Festival on Monday, March 28 at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Haydon Bailey: Division 1 ratings in Solo Acting and Solo Musical Theatre. Bailey is nominated for All-State Performing in both of his events. Olivia Caskey: Division 1 ratings in Solo Musical Theatre and After Dinner Speaking. Caskey is nominated for All-State Performing in After Dinner Speaking. Logan McClellen: Division 1 rating in Storytelling. McClellen is nominated for All-State Performing in this event. Jack Greiner: Division 1 rating in Solo Improvisation. Greiner is nominated for All-State Performing in this event. Avery Slaubaugh: Division 1 ratings in Interpretive Prose and Solo Musical Theatre. Slaubaugh is nominated for All-State Performing in Interpretive Prose. Diego Ayala: Division 1 rating in Spontaneous Speaking Alexander Burnham: Division 1 rating in Storytelling Jacob Carrillo: Division 2 ratings in Solo Acting and Solo Improvisation Avery Frede: Division 1 rating in Solo Improvisation. Isadora Goode: Division 1 rating in Interpretive Poetry Terra Richardson: Division 1 ratings in Solo Acting and After Dinner Speaking. Emily Righter: Division 1 rating in Public Address, and Division 2 rating in Radio News Broadcasting. Daniel Rodgers: Division 1 rating in Interpretive Poetry. At least two of three judges in each performer's center must nominate a student for them to qualify for All-State.
