During Friday's Kindness Challenge at MPMS, Mrs. Fiordelise's advisory students spent some time teaching Mr. Van Soelen's 2nd graders how to play kickball. Everyone had a fun time outside! #mphawks
Congratulations to these Mid-Prairie students on successfully completing Kirkwood's Patient Care Academy which includes a Nurse Aide class! They all passed the written and skills portions of the state of Iowa's Certified Nurse Aide Exam and are now among the compassionate and skilled CNAs on the state's Direct Care Worker Registry. #mphawks
Last week, a group of 4th and 5th graders attended the Young Writer's Conference in Cedar Rapids at Coe College. They participated in workshops and shared their writing with other students. They did a great job representing Mid-Prairie! #mphawks
This year was a successful year for our Mid-Prairie Future Problem Solving teams. At the middle school, there were 4 teams and 1 individual who competed in Global Issues Problem Solving, while at the high school, there were 3 teams and 1 individual. Two individuals at both schools competed in the scenario story writing competition. The following students placed at the state competition in April- Madi Liska, 5th-place middle division scenario writing; Gwen Wunderlich, 2nd-place middle division scenario writing; Maelys Beachy, 1st-place middle division scenario writing; Phoebe Shetler, 1st-place senior division scenario writing; and Charlotte Sieren, 1st-place senior division Global Issues Problem Solving. All 1st-place winners are invited to the FPS International Competition in June. Congratulations to all! #mphawks

In the current MPHS Geometry unit, students are making lots of connections between circles and triangles. They are studying points of concurrency (where lines meet) for different lines associated with triangles. The angle bisectors meet at the incenter. They poured sand over triangles to see the incenter in 3D!! Can you spot the point where the angles bisectors meet?
